Sunny Sunday on tap—for the first time in 5 weeks

Yes, the day after Saturday is called Sunday—but for the past four weeks, Rainday has seemed like a far more appropriate moniker.

Fortunately, our luck is about to change.

For the first time since, well, the first of September, nary a drop of rain is forecast to fall in Seattle on a Sunday. That’s right, our soggy stretch of Sundays past—0.04 inches on Sept. 8, 0.44 inches on Sept. 15, 0.24 inches on Sept. 22 and 0.09 inches on Sept. 29—is no more.

Seasonable temperatures at last

So, just how warm and sunny could it get?

High temperatures are forecast to rise into the mid-60s tomorrow, which would make for the first warmer-than-normal day in Seattle in nine straight days. (The average high for Oct. 6 is 63 degrees.) While the morning will likely dawn with a fair amount of cloud cover, skies should turn partly sunny by lunchtime—and stay that way well into the afternoon.

The timing for our Sunday dry spell is near-ideal: the Seahawks won’t be playing, and it’s high-time for pumpkin-picking. With the start of the rainy season drawing ever closer—most years, it kicks in around mid-October—tomorrow may wind up as the only bone-dry weekend day this month to visit the pumpkin patch. Don’t let it pass you by.

Rain returns Monday

As the weekend fades away, so too will our respite from the rain, with another round of showers returning by Monday morning. This next system won’t be too impressive, with rainfall totals generally staying under a quarter-inch. However, in its wake, another blast of chilly autumn air will trickle in, dropping high temperatures into the 50s on Tuesday and Wednesday. Overnight lows will be even cooler, falling into the mid to upper 30s in most spots, including Seattle.

We then look to stay dry and on the cool side for the remainder of the workweek, with highs struggling to reach 60 as our chilly start to fall continues.

But up first is a spectacular Sunday. Enjoy!
