2024 was a significantly drier-than-normal year in Seattle.*
*Note that the “official” precipitation total for 2024 is listed at 32.17″ by the National Weather Service. This amount is incorrect, however, because it excludes rain that fell on April 25, 2024. The rain gauge at Sea-Tac Airport stopped working that evening, so rainfall from that day is not reflected in official records. Best guesses are that about 0.80-0.90 inches fell. The above chart uses 0.48″ for April 25 since that’s what was reported before the gauge broke. The total is almost certainly higher, though, which means 2024 precipitation was probably closer to 33 inches.
