Goodbye, sun.
See you again tomorrow.
After yet another round of afternoon sunshine, clouds have filled in across much of Western Washington, touching off some showers in the Seattle-Tacoma area. As we head into the overnight hours, the showers will slowly taper off, but the clouds will remain in place. Temperatures will fall into the upper 40s.
Tomorrow will start off mostly cloudy, with a little drizzle possible around the metro area, before the sun returns in earnest for the afternoon hours. (When’s the last time we had a cloudy afternoon around here—Cinco de Mayo?) Despite the sunshine, temperatures will be on the cool side, as marine air continues to filter in from the Pacific. Highs tomorrow will be in the low 60s—about as cool as we’ve been this past week.
The sunshine will carry over into Saturday, with temperatures nudging into the upper 60s amidst clear skies. For those of you looking to spend some time outside this weekend, Saturday is your day. Come Sunday, the weather won’t be nearly as nice, courtesy of a front expected to move across the area in the afternoon. Prior to the front’s arrival, it’ll actually be fairly warm across Puget Sound—a 70-degree reading around lunchtime is not out of the question—but things will quickly cool down once the clouds and showers move in.
Right now, Sunday’s rain looks to be on the lighter side, with the highest amounts north of Seattle. Monday will feature more moderate rainfall, along with colder temperatures—highs around 60 degrees or so. Additional cool, wet weather systems are likely to impact the area Tuesday through Thursday—making our recent stretch of good weather a distant memory.
Something tells me saying goodbye to the sun won’t be as easy the next time around.
