After climbing back down to normal on Tuesday, we descended another step yesterday.
The thermometer leveled off at 63 degrees Wednesday—the first time this month that Seattle’s high temperature came in under average. Despite predictions for cooler weather to return at the start of the week, our warmer-than-normal stretch held on through Monday, before the mercury slipped to the normal high of 65 on Tuesday.
Seattle will sink even further down the temperature ladder this weekend, with highs barely cracking the 60-degree mark—but first, we’ll actually rise up a rung or two.
And you thought the StairMaster was a workout.
With the remnants of yesterday’s system all but dried up, high temperatures this afternoon should rebound into the upper 60s under partly sunny skies. Further south, a weak area of low pressure will toss showers into places like Olympia and Chehalis—but any moisture-laden volleys should land shy of the Pierce County line. With clearing in tow, lows overnight in Seattle will fall to 50 degrees.
A few of these lobs finally reach the metro area tomorrow morning, triggering some light shower activity around sunrise. Rainfall amounts should top out below a quarter-inch—with most places lucky to collect a tenth. The sun then returns later in the afternoon, but with the damp start, temperatures will take a step back, peaking in the low 60s.
Another influx of clouds arrives early Saturday, spreading more rain back into the Sound. With a cold front swinging through by mid-day, temperatures will struggle to clear the upper 50s. Suffice it to say we’ll be hoofing it down the ladder once more.
The showers wind down Saturday night, allowing Mother Nature to greet us with a few peaks of sunshine on Sunday morning. With high pressure moving in overhead, we’ll call it partly sunny by the afternoon, with temperatures warming back near average.
We inch up another rung on Monday as sunny skies vault Seattle temperatures past the mid 60s, before a deep upper level low dives in Tuesday—sending the mercury crashing into the 50s as we hightail it in reverse again.
Raise your hand if you can feel your legs starting to give out at the thought.
